I wrote this story almost fifteen years ago as an homage to Serling's Night Gallery and a certain classic futuristic sci-fi film starring Charlton Heston that was not The Omega Man or The Planet of the Apes. This story would have been my first professional sale if the magazine I had sent it to hadn't folded prior to publication. Amazon has been generous enough to give it one more shot. It seemed appropriate that this story would involve lawyers - until a witty editor pointed out that it's only a horror story if the lawyer lives.
