Ya know, it is sad that they are taking his novels as real world facts. I mean, seriously, its a BOOK. They feel the need to defend their beliefs because people start attacking them for their beliefs over a book. Its just stupid. The book did get to be a little cumbersome, I had a hard time following it after a while and kind of gave up. I too am a sucker for mysteries though. I love a great who-done-it mystery and if it has some thrill, I can’t put it down. You and I are a lot alike…

I do like the Dan Brown novels, but only cause I’m a sucker for mysteries, inside information, conspiracies, that sort of thing. There is a lot of historical (or fake historical) facts that Brown packs into his novels and I can see it being cumbersome. I didn’t mind so much the heavy handedness with the references though, as I find it a lot more difficult to take statements on faith alone. Overall, his books are fun, not really life changing. What I find interesting is the people that go crazy over his novels and others (say relgious organizations) feel the need to defend their faith in light of statements made in the book. Are people actually taking what he’s written as real-world fact?

I couldn’t really get into the Da Vinci Code, too many facts. I got bored. I haven’t read Angels and Demons, I do have it though. I take it that you are a fan?

Oh nice, so basically throughout the book you can watch for all the clues and signs and try to guess what’s coming up next. Sounds quite engaging. I also like the short chapter thing. Makes me feel like I’m making lots of progress. Are you a fan of the Dan Brown (Angels & Demons, etc.) novels?

Well, he’s a murder mystery author. But he looks into the criminal’s mind and writes the story from the criminal/killer’s mind AND from the detectives trying to find him. His books are full of short chapters, we’re talking 1-3 pages, but every chapter has something important in it. Great author.

Quite the intriguing cover on this book. I haven’t heard of this author before. How would you describe Patterson’s story telling style?
